DUI Treatment
DUI is the abbreviation for driving under the influence: the crime of operating a motor vehicle while being affected by alcohol or other drugs. Driving under the influence is one of the largest risk factors that contribute to traffic collisions
Treatment Outline
When a person comes to our office, we will identify how many sessions they will have depending on the number of DUIs they have been arrested for.

We will also take into account whether you have completed previous treatment in the past, as well as evaluate a higher level of care, that is, an intensive outpatient program or residential treatment in case of more extreme situations.
Will discuss with each person the objective of each stage of treatment, informing them about the expectations of the program. Each session requires completion of an assignment that will be discussed with the counselor. There are no assignments well done or poorly done, it is about doing your best so that the conversation that that task triggers is enriching.

You will also be asked to take a random urine drug test at Labcorp. This is a determining requirement of our program.
We will always maintain contact with the DUI agency that referred you. We will share initial feedback, treatment plan, discharge summary, and any changes in care during treatment. Some more complex cases may require other referrals, such as mental health evaluation, couples or family therapy, detoxification, vocational counseling.

Our mission is to help you resolve this particular situation and try to understand the causes so that it does not happen again.

Frecuent Questions
1. Should I do the same treatment even if I don't consider that I have an alcohol or drug problem?
Once the DUI school evaluation determines that you could benefit from treatment, it becomes a necessary step. Completing substance use treatment is a vital component for the reinstatement of your license. It's not just about addressing alcoholism; it's also about making decisions that safeguard lives.

2. Why can some people be exempt from referral to treatment and others not?
Recommendations are made by evaluators trained to assess individual circumstances comprehensively. This includes analyzing various factors such as family history of substance use, prior related arrests, blood alcohol levels at the time of arrest, and other drug usage. If referred, it's to facilitate positive change and prevent future legal entanglements, not as punishment.

3. Is the work schedule and family situation respected?
Our operating hours are flexible, spanning from 8 am to 8 pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. We understand that the duration of the process can vary based on job, financial, and family considerations, and we strive to accommodate most schedules.

4. If I don't have a transportation option, can I not do treatment?
We offer online sessions to accommodate those without reliable transportation.
However, certain conditions are non-negotiable, such as ensuring privacy and safety during the sessions.

5. Can you talk to my probation officer?
Maintaining communication with your probation officer is part of our responsibility. Transparency is crucial, and we are obliged to report any relevant information.

6. If I am confused or have unrelated questions, can you advise me?
We can provide guidance on various matters, but we do not offer legal advice or make decisions on your behalf.

7. Are there payment options?
While the payment structure remains the same, the duration of the treatment can be adjusted. Details will be discussed during the Orientation.

8. Can I bring my children to treatment?
Treatment demands focused attention, so if you must bring your children, please ensure that another adult accompanies them to supervise in the waiting area.

9. What is the difference between in-person and online sessions?
Each type of session offers a unique experience. While the treatment remains
consistent, live interaction generally provides more data during sessions and ensures enhanced privacy.

10. Can I choose between individual or group sessions?
Yes, you can select your preferred session type. While individual sessions are typically scheduled within the same week, group sessions may involve a longer wait time.

11. How long will it take me to complete this requirement? Will I get my license back as soon as I finish?
Each case varies, and the reinstatement of your license is subject to fulfilling all
requirements mandated by the judge and probation officer. Completion of the treatment is just one part of the overall process.
What is the purpose of doing the treatment?
The treatment serves as an opportunity for self-reflection, self-improvement, and learning from past experiences. It's a personal journey that allows for introspection and growth.
